BA1b Drawing - Photobashing

We had a Photoshop session where we were shown how to merge photos together to make them look realistic using things like layer masks and changing the properties of the photos. Below is what I created from the session. I wanted to do something impossible but make it look realistic, so I decided to put pandas in the clouds. I did feel however that I could not get the colours of the pandas right, they looked still out of place and a different shade from the original cloud image. The  I like the final outcome of this, and want to experiment further with photobashing.

Here were the layers, with the mask one being layer 1.

BA1b 3D - Personal 3D Work 2

Another 3D model I decided to make in my spare time, a simple crate. I wanted to experiment more with what Maya could do, but didn't want a big challenge that would take up more of my time then needed. This was a fun little project, and I wish I had given myself more time to complete it and potentially texture it.

BA1b 3D - Personal Work

This is some personal 3D work I made on the side of the projects. Its the cat 'Tubbs' again from the app 'Neko Atsume'. I decided to model this character because he has a simple form, which I thought would be fun to model but still give me a challenge as I'm still not familiar with Maya. I am pleased with the result, but I know that with further experience I would be able to do a more thorough job. I also decided that I would not have time to UV map this, so i have left it as it is.

BA1b 3D - Barrel Unwrapping 3

This is the my final texture for my barrel unwrapping. I used a texture brush to add more to the barrels colouring, and added more definition to the top/bottom of the barrel. I would have put more detail into the rest of the barrel if I had more time, but other tasks had to take my attention.

These two pictures show the front and back of my finished barrel.

Also the wireframe below -

BA1b 3D - Barrel Unwrapping 2

This is the second draft of my texture, where I found images from the internet to use on my barrel to give it a more realistic effect. I used the cat 'Tubbs' from the popular mobile game 'Neko Atsume' and I also used the Japanese logo for the app so that both sides of the barrel had something interesting imprinted on them. Below is the barrel with the texture unwrapped onto it.

I like the position of the two images, they both look centered and are obvious to the eye.

BA1b 3D - Barrel Unwrapping

This week we were told to unwrap a barrel, and then texture it. This was work done in a session, so it wasn't a set task per say.

This is the unwrapped barrel, I inverted the image in Photoshop and then made the texture underneath on different layers.

This is my first texture without the UV layer, not entirely completed yet.

BA1b 3D - UV Mapping Dice

This is one of my first tries with UV mapping. We had a cylinder, and made the UV neat on the UV editor. We then applied a grid patter onto it, trying to get it to be as neat as possible. Below was my outcome.

We also created boxes and unwrapped them, and made them into dice. We exported the UV into Photoshop, and then used the boxes as a grid to where the numbers were going to go.

I find UV mapping quite difficult, my memory isn't the best at times and I suspect that I will find it hard in the future to remember how to do it. I will try to frequently unwrap and UV map and hopefully it will click. I was happy with how this came out however.

BA1b Drawing - Brushes

We had our first drawing session this week, where we learnt about making brushes from images from 'texture.com'. I decided to make a brush out of this image -

This may not have been the best image to use as a brush due to it being photo of a rock with the background included so you get the outline of the rock/the background too. The rock however has a very nice texture and nice rock layers that stand out, as well as moss so these worked well as a brush as seen below.

These are also some sketches I drew with different brushes, trying out what works and what doesn't. I found the brushes i used were fun to use to sketch with and I enjoyed drawing.

BA1b 3D - Desk Light 2 Final

This is the final design of my second desk light. I was a lot happier with how this lamp turned out as it looks similar to the original lamp image I used, and I feel like I learnt a lot from this lamp compared to the first one.

BA1b 3D - Desk Light 2

This was the second light we were told to create, which you had to do in your spare time. This one I am happier with, as I learnt more on the software and knew more on how to model my second lamp. These are more images I took with my phone that show the process of this lamp:
